The Savoy & Savoy Grill opening delayed to late summer

14th Apr 2010

The long awaited reopening of the Savoy Hotel and its restaurant has been put back yet again from June until late August or early September as the refurbishment runs late and over budget.  The hotel has been closed since December 2007 and the overall costs has doubled to £200 million.  Once re-opened we hope the restaurant emerges as capitivating as before when you had to fight to book for lunch.  Its riverfront location bridging the city to the theatre and west-end has traditionally been a smart location for the well heeled and city gents.  We are advised the new restaurant interior will be “elegant informality” but still retain the hotel’s mix of Art Deco and Edwardian styles.  It is being overseen by Pierre-Yves Rochon whose former projects include George V in Paris.
