AA Announces New 2017 Rosette Awards In Mid-year Presentations
Our Pick Of This Months Pop-Up Restaurants in London
Love them or hate them they seem part of the fine dining landscape for now. Our pick of the London Pop-Up’s this month:
Elizabeth Allen at Carousel, Marylebone. Offering diners a preview of her forthcoming restaurant, Shibui, up and coming chef Elizabeth Allen (formerly of Michelin star Pidgin) will be serving up a four- course set menu. Carousel is a permanent event venue showcasing chefs from around the world. From 17 – 21 and 24 to 28th January.
Bar Boulud at Harrods, Knightsbridge. Daniel Boulud will be cooking here himself today and tomorrow while original Bar Boulud in the Mandarin Oriental is refurbished (opening again 6th February). Find it in the Food Hall on the ground floor everyday until 29th January 2017.
Remix at Sanctum Soho. The former No 20 is soon to be replaced with something permanent but until then Chef to watch James Cathcart is offering traditional British cuisine alongside creative cocktails. Available until the end of February 2017.
Floating Table with Atul Kochhar. One of our favourite chefs will be cooking a one off meal in the unique floating garden at Farmopolis this month (The Jetty, Greenwich Peninsula). Surrounded by thousands of plants and trees rehomed from Chelsea Flower Show diners join long communal table. Book quickly – Friday 27th January, tickets from £45.
Coppa Club Igloos. Over the winter enjoy a view of Tower Bridge from the warmth and comfort of your own igloo! Like dining alfresco without freezing, these eight pop up igloos will deliver the ultimate Hygge experience. Available until the end of January 2017.
Chefs on the Tube. Thanks to the Underground Supper Club you can dine on a 1967 London Underground Carriage based in Walthamstow. The latest partnership is with award winning distillers William Chase and ticket types include a ‘Luggage Rack Special’ where you join another table or VIP Booth where you eat your four course tasting menu in a private booth for two. The venue now has a new head chef Shiann Stuiver joining from Pollen Street Social. Six dates per month with tickets from £59.
Winter Lodge Pop at The Waterway W9. Enjoy a cosy three course meal including cheese and chocolate fondue (hopefully not together) and hot cocktail. Three course for £35.00 until 11th February.
Denim ‘n’ Dine. We raised an eyebrow too especially as most of us are struggling to get back into denim post Christmas. Fortunately it is the setting rather than the dress code as former Fat Duck Chef Pedro Passinha serves up a six-course dinner in this Handmade Denim Workshop (atelier) in E17. Available Thurs/Fri/Sat nights to end of January.
Chamber of Flavours. Next ticket release for this inter-dimensional dining experience is on 31st January. Transporting travellers through five brand new parallel dining realities, the venue is a closely guarded secret. Sign up for details of time slots of Chambers of Flavour V2 here.
