Michelin star restaurants 2011

Michelin has annouced its highest ever tally of Michelin stars in its 2011 edition – special for being marking its 100th anniversary (although its 37th year of awarding stars).

In total 143 have recieved or retained Michelin stars with 14 new annoucments.  Whilst there were 12 new one stars and two new two stars, there remains only four three star restaurants in the UK (Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, the eponymous Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, and the Waterside Inn and Fat Duck in Bray).

Commenting on the 2011 guide, new Editor in Chief Rebecca Burr said: “This centenary edition underlines the UK’s greatest strength which is the rich diversity and variety of its restaurants.  The country embraces all kinds of restaurants and every type of cuisine and the public’s appetite shows no signs of abating.

The Michelin guide Great Britain & Ireland 2011 will be available in bookshops from Wednesday 19th January, priced at £15.99.

Also published today is the Michelin guide London 2011, priced at £10.99. London now boasts 53 Michelin stars across various establishments.
