The World's Best Restaurant: Noma replaces El Bulli at No 1
Jamie Oliver is ‘one of Britain’s top givers’
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has made it to number 22 on a list of Britain’s greatest givers after donating over £2.7 million. He has given us healthier school dinners and a full range of cooking shows over the past ten years.
Jamie Oliver certainly likes giving. So much so, the celebrity chef, with a personal fortune of £65million, has made it to No.22 on a list of the nation’s greatest givers.
Oliver, who makes his debut on the Sunday Times Rich List, has given away £2.7million, which equates to 4.2 per cent of his wealth.
Oliver set up a trust eight years ago to train disadvantaged young people as chefs. Launching it, the 34-year-old said: ‘I was uncomfortable with the success the public had given me. I felt obliged to give something back.’
Last week he admitted: ‘I have less in my personal bank account than I did ten years ago.’
