Fancy an omelette? That will be £90 please sir.

20th May 2010

Boisdale’s of Bishopsgate London EC2 serves up the world’s most expensive omelette made from gull’s eggs with lobster, crab and truffles. The central London restaurant favoured by Conservative MPs is offering the omelette at £90 for a limited few weeks only.

The star ingredient is the rare gull’s eggs, a rich egg that has to be specially harvested and is only available for a few weeks of the year in Spring. Only about 40,000 gull’s eggs are sold each year, but apparently their richness contributes to a wonderfully fluffy and light omelette.
