A Great Year for Design Restaurants
Design LSM’s concept for Eighty Six Bar and Restaurant
Eighty Six Bar and Restaurant, formerly known as Cactus Blue on the Fulham Road in South Kensington, opened recently in mid November to high acclaim. The brief to Design LSM, the award winning interior designers and architectural practice based in East Sussex, was to create a venue that appealed to local Fulham and Chelsea residents for different occasions. The interior was to incorporate an informal stylish bar to the ground floor level and restaurant to the perimeter mezzanine allowing visual interaction between the two spaces. The completed look and feel of the space should be one of quality and discreet glamour.
More space was created for the front of house section by removing the existing large island bar and relocating it to the left hand side of the room. The ground floor has long charcoal velvet chesterfields with a backdrop of black lacquered random sized panels and a beautifully finished mirror polished steel bar as a centrepiece. Floors are a mixture of dark woods, mosaics, and a central featured inset rug. The mezzanine level has a slightly more informal feel with a backdrop of glamorous gold panels cladding the walls. A playful use of angled gilt mirrors gives the impression of a high ceiling and creates different perspectives around the room. Eighty –Six reopened to the public on Friday 19th November and will be providing club benefits (tba) to Design Restaurants members in the New Year.
