The lead up to Christmas Eve is almost as good as the holiday itself and is a perfect time to socialise with friends and work colleagues. It’s also the time when restaurants produce some delicious festive menus which are a fraction of the cost of dining out on Christmas Day. Here we publish a selection of December menus at some of our favourite venues which also represent great value for money – for example members pay as little as £15 pp for an amazing three course festive menu at Great Fosters and Luton Hoo Hotels’. 1. Coworth Park, Ascot
Luxury is all about experience and that comes in abundance at this relaxed and glamorous country manor. Within easy access of London, Dorchester Collection’s 17th Century mansion and polo estate is set in a 240-acre equestrian estate and is the epitome of cool and chic country house living. The 2014 Christmas menu is available in both restaurants, so whether you want to dress up for the restaurant or go casual in The Barn, mulled wine and turkey await!
Restaurant Coworth Park Festive Menu
Lunch – 3 courses for £35.00 including a glass of mulled wine (prior to membership reduction)
Dinner – 3 courses for £40.00 including a glass of mulled wine (prior to membership reduction)
Starters: Parsnip and apple soup (v), Duck liver parfait with sourdough crisps, Homemade gravadlax with fennel and dill salad
Mains: Ballotine of turkey with winter cabbage and roasted potatoes, Open ravioli of goats cheese, beetroot and balsamic onions (v), Stone baked bream with a trio of celeriac
Desserts: Belvedere Forest, milk chocolate, damson; blackberry and sarsaparilla ice cream; Christmas plum pudding, caramelised apple and Somerset cider brandy ; Crème caramel with clementine and festive spice
Enjoy with a glass of mulled wine and mince pies
Available for Lunch Tuesday to Saturday, from Tuesday 2rd December until Saturday 27th December (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing day)
Available for Dinner Tuesday to Friday, from Tuesday 2nd December until Tuesday 23rd December

The Barn Festive Menu
3 courses for £35.00 including a glass of mulled wine (prior to membership reduction)
Starters: East Neuk king prawn and crab cocktail; Sweetcorn velouté with chive crème fraîche; Puddledub pork and black pudding terrine with cranberry chutney
Mains: Peace Hill Farm roast turkey with ‘all the trimmings’; Pan-fried Loch Duart salmon with cauliflower,baby artichokes and spinach; Locally picked wild mushroom risotto with goats cheese and a herb crust
Puddings: Christmas plum pudding with Cumberland rum butter and pouring custard; Gingerbread latte tiramisu, toasted parkin and chocolate sauce; Lemon posset, confit cranberry and all butter shortbread
Enjoy with a glass of mulled wine, coffee and mince pies

2. Luton Hoo, Luton, Bedfordshire
Magnificent Luton Hoo lies on the borders of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and like Coworth has enjoyed an amazing refurbishment in the last few years. With pillared halls and elegant lounges the Mansion House has an imposing grandeur but a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Luton’s Chef Kevin Clark has created an inspired Christmas menu which can be enjoyed in the opulent Wernher restaurant.

Starters: Heritage Carrot Velouté with Onion Seed and Coriander Fritters (v); Beetroot and Dill Cured Scottish Salmon; Celeriac and Horseradish Remoulade, Endive Salad and Wholemeal Black Olive Crostini; Savoury Cheesecake, Walnut Crumble, Red Onion Chutney and a Celery and Confit Tomato Salad (v); Roast Goose and Pheasant Terrine, Poached Kumquat Emulsion, Parsnip Crisps and Tarragon Dressing

3. Great Fosters, Egham, Surrey
This luxury romantic hotel comes into its own during the festive season as its historic features and vast fireplaces are a perfect backdrop to your Christmas meal. Thought to have been built as a royal hunting lodge in 1550 and very much a stately home since then, Great Fosters is now a prestigious 43 bedroom hotel. The Estate Grill is an open beamed space with a permanently changing display of British art adorning the walls giving it a refreshing contemporary look.

Starters: Garden cauliflower velouté, roasted hazelnut cream; Duck and foie gras terrine, pineapple and chilli jam, gingerbread; Carpaccio of tuna, green apple vinaigrette; Salad of Cashel Blue, beetroot, watercress and horseradish
Main Course: Traditional roast turkey, chestnut stuffing, chipolata, caramelised sprouts and cranberry sauce; Braised beef cheek, bourguignon garnish, creamed potato, fresh herbs; Fillet of silver bream, heritage potatoes, scorched leeks, native oyster Pumpkin risotto, toasted seeds, winter truffle
