10 Most Romantic Hotels to Propose – Part One
With both Valentines Day approaching and a leap year to boot, thoughts are turning to love here at the Luxury Restaurant Guide. A proposal, whether made by a man or a woman, is a private and intimate gesture and, unless you are the very spontaneous type, needs careful planning. We have picked out 10 incredibly romantic hotels which will ensure that the setting and mood is totally perfect for you to pop this most important of questions!
First five below – look out for part two coming next week!
1. Blakes Hotel, South Kensington, London
Reputed to be a hidden gem, Blakes’ discrete door is the entry to a sensual and otherworldly place of unconventional luxury. Although very much at the top of the budget, Anoushka Hempel’s sexy, luxury boutique hotel is a lesson in sultry seduction. The white hot Corfu Suite was winner of UK’s Sexiest Hotel Room and it’s easy to see why.
If a night in the hotel is out of budget the boudoir-chic restaurant offers sophisticated dishes with eastern influence which are pure aphrodisiac. There is also a cute courtyard if you can brave the cold and fancy proposing under the stars.

2. Cliveden House Hotel, Taplow, Berkshire
Restored back to its former glory, Cliveden’s motto is ‘Nothing ordinary ever happens here, nor could it’ which makes it the perfect backdrop to moments of importance. The former home of the Astor’s, the Lady Astor Suite has lavish furnishings and a terrace that opens up to one of the best views from any hotel room in the world.
Dining at Cliveden is also an occasion and the amazing room that is the setting for chef André Garrett’s restaurant is both opulent but intimate. With large comfortable chairs each table has its own privacy allowing you that moment to find the right words…

From secret gardens laid out with blankets, lanterns and candles to the Italian Suite complete with gold cherubs and chocolate dipped strawberries, they will assist you in creating the ultimate setting for you to pop the question.
Great Fosters fine dining restaurant, The Tudor Room, is an intimate sophisticated space of just 24 covers with silk lined walls adorned with 17th century tapestries. Only open Thursday to Saturday, the menu ingredients are sourced from the estate where possible.

With contemporary design meeting Cotswold chic, both of their suites, The Attic and The Loft feature elegance, charm and spectacular bathrooms!
The Garden Room restaurant is classy dining in a modern light filled setting. Menus feature both farmed and foraged food and a tasting menu for you to linger over once the deed is done!

5. Gravetye Manor, East Grinstead, Sussex
If its peace and beauty you are looking for then Gravetye has it in spades – even in the winter. Built for a bride back in 1598, the gardens and house at Gravetye are a very special place and exude the romance of its inception. The rich fabrics, fine antiques and hand crafted beds emphasise the classical beauty of the interiors and the floral themes bring the garden into the manor.
Exquisite cooking by head chef George Blogg has been recognised by Michelin and a star rightly awarded. The oak paneled restaurant is full of atmosphere and a comforting place to come to after walking the amazing gardens – hopefully with some great news to celebrate!
