Overview

The Witchery is hidden in a collection of historic buildings at the very top of the historic Royal Mile on Castlehill at the gates of Edinburgh Castle.

Established by Edinburgh's 'Star Restaurateur' James Thomson from a near derelict Old Town basement in 1979, The Witchery by the Castle is widely known as Scotland's best-known restaurant.

The Medieval venue is not for lovers of minimalist with its beautifully rich and opulent decor, heavy beams, oak panelling and candlelight. It is hugely atmospheric and a favourite for romantic liaisons.

Its guestbook is the who's who of the rich and famous not only of Scotland but Internationally too.
